Cattlemen's Meeting

Recently we were invited to a Cattlemen's meeting
at the Haas farm just east of Bad Axe.

They had Temple Grandin there speaking about
the humane treatment of cattle. She was there signing books
and posing for pictures. Ms. Grandin is Autistic and also suffers from
Asperger's Syndrome, but has gone on to earn many degrees,
and is also a professor, teaching all that she has learned
on handling cattle. A movie was also made about her life, and how
she over came her limitations; the movie Temple Grandin, starring
Clare Danes was shown on HBO.

Here's a recent project.

I needed another tin for my embossing folders.
I purchased another tin, used Modge Podge, and decorated
it with Stampin Up! Designer Series Paper.

Now I have my SU! and non SU! embossing
folders in separate lunch tins.

Graduation!!

 This is my nephew Shawn!
I wanted to make him a picture frame using his senior picture.

I then cut out the letters using my Varsity cartridge for the cricut.
Then using opaque Staz On ink, I stamped his year on the glass
of the picture frame using my Stampin Up! stamps.

We had a number of graduation parties to go to this year.
So I got my trusty Cricut out and Stampin Up! Supplies, and made a
few graduation cards. Not too shabby!

Up-cycle Cricut Boxes

Here is another project I worked on.

This was for scrap gathering I was going to. I used Cricut boxes
and decorated them using Stampin Up! cardstock, inks, ribbon and
Lovely as a Tree stamps.  Inside I put a travel Kleenex,
hand sanitizer, and chap stick.

I think they turned out pretty good.

Binder Clips

I was looking to do something simple for some ladies at work and came
up these binder clips. With the two handles tied together,
you can place a photo or a note, to be displayed.

Wedding Card Box

When my sister got married this year, she needed
an idea for her card box. We found this one at Michael's
in Saginaw. I added a couple of wedding scrapbook
stickers, then cut a hole in the top for cards to be
dropped in. I also glued the lid on all sides so no cards fell out.

It's been awhile!!!

My goodness!!!

It's been a few years since I've posted!  I guess time flies along with everyday going life.

Well since my last post back in 2011, there have been a number of changes. My mom passed away after battling illness after illness. My sister and her family were by her side when the time came for her to be with God, and all her family and friends. It's been a long road since she's been gone. There have been times when I want to call her, then remember I can't. That's the hardest so far. It's been over a year, and I don't think you can ever really get over loosing a parent.

Jo, my sister recently married a wonderful man, Mike Albertson. His parents and our parents were friends for many years. Mike was a great comfort to Jo and the kids during mom's passing. He has been a wonderful step-father to Jo's kids, and loves them all tremendously. I'm happy knowing she has found a wonderful, kind, considerate, loving man to share her life with.

Dan's family suffered a loss also last year. His dad, Eugene passed away in Oct from a lung infection. That was hard also, as it came on suddenly, and no matter how much you prepare yourself, loosing a parent at any age is difficult. I'm sure him and mom are up there just chatting away.

We've also added a few new tractors, International CASE, and a new cattle barn to the farm. Oh, and we've moved to the farm also, almost forgot! Nothing else new besides that, just working hard. Enjoying the weather, and all the challenges that life throw our way.

I'm sure most of you already know all this, but just wanted to give a quick update. I'll will try to be better about coming here. I'll do a little updating on here, so please have patience, and excuse the dust!

Time Flies!!!!!

Phew!!!!

Where has 2011 gone!

I have been very neglectful with my blog for the past year.

Sorry to all of you that follow. I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted.

This year has brought many changes, mostly good, a few not so warm and fuzzy.

My outlook for 2012 is a little brighter.

I'm also wishing for a bright new year for all

my dear family and friends.

A couple of weeks ago we got a really bad snow storm.
I thought I would take a few pics.
I ended up calling into work, because my drive way had
so much snow, and my car wouldn't start.

The pic below is of our yard. All the stuff
on the snow is from the group of pine trees. I will have
a heck of a time raking when spring comes.

Card Organization

I just have to share with you all a wonderful idea.
One of my On-ladies shared with me a great way
to organize cards I have received.
These are page protectors I ordered online.
I used "clip rings" to hold all the pages together.
I would like to put them in a binder, but as you can see
it's quite thick. It's a great way to flip thru and get
some great ideas!

Wreath Kick

Well I've been on a wreath kick lately.

This is the newest one:

I made this from Stampin Up!'s Love Impressions Designer Series Paper, which is currently available in the Occasions Mini. I also use Real Red and Pretty in Pink 12x12 card stock to fill in and give a little more color.

I am trying to put a class together, if I get enough interest. The cost would be $25 per person; all materials included.

Post your comments here or email me at dkbooms@yahoo.com

The weather

Lately the weather around here has been COLD!

So when trying to find something to do, you slowly
realized that there's ALOT to do.

There are two lists; what I want to do, and what I need to do.

What I want to do consists of making cards, working on different projects,
reading, getting caught up on shows that I have on the DVR, take a nap.

Now comes the list of what I need to do: Never ending laundry, sweep floors,
clean the bathroom, clean the kitchen, make sure there's something for lunch.

The above list is a never ending one, but it at least makes the first list a treat when
I actually get to it. I'm sure we all feel this way sometimes. Now if we could only
bottle children's energy and have it for those days when the Need To Do list is
what we need to get done.

Stampin Up! DSP Wreath

A friend of mine showed me this project over on SCS.
It was alot of fun, a project that was easy to do.
This wonderful project has a tutorial
by Chris Twig on her blog:
I found the "extruded" wreath rings at
Hobby Lobby and Michael's, in their
styrofoam isles.

Rosette Tree

I found this great tutorial at Archivers.com.

They had this great idea on their blog!
Mine doesn't look exactly like theirs, but I did give it
a good try.

I used mostly paper I had on hand so it's not the two sided kind.
Brought it to work, and it was a big hit!

This is Midnite!
This is his chair!

Birthday flowers

Just had to share my flowers that I got
on my birthday!
He never sends me flowers, especially at work!
He is the best person I know, and I love him bunches!
